Classes can be booked in the shop or by phone on (01738) 563264. Spaces are limited to 8 people per class, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
The Basics of Bead Stringing with Dawn Cotton Fuge
Thursday 23 September 2010- 7.30-9.30pm
This class is aimed at absolute beginners and will address where to begin when making jewellery using gemstones. You will make a necklace using semi-precious beads and briolettes and be shown which beading wire to use, how to attach clasps using crimp tubes, and how to neatly open and close jump rings. These simple techniques will enable you to make quality bracelets and necklaces. There will also be a discussions of gemstones and designing with colour, texture and pattern. Cost: £25 per person, includes all materials, except tools. We encourage you to purchase tools before this class. A full set of tools can be purchased from our shop for under £20. The Basics of Wire Wrapping with Dawn Cotton Fuge
Tuesday 9 September 2010- 7.30-9.30pm - class full
Thursday 7 October 2010- 7.30-9.30pm
This class is also aimed at beginners to wirework/wire wrapping and will show you how to make drops by wire wrapping headpins, how to wrap briolettes, and how, using wrapped loops, to make beaded links. You will be shown to to make sure your loops are round and even in size. With this technique you can make earrings, bracelets and necklaces. The class will involve practice on craft wire, but by the end of the class each student should leave with a finished pair of semi-precious gemstone and sterling silver earrings. Cost: £20 per person, includes all materials, except tools. A set of tools for this class can be purchased from our shop for around £10.
Pearl Knotting with Dorothy Wood
Tuesday 14 September 2010- 7-9pm
This class is aimed at complete beginners, teaching the very popular, traditional jewellery making technique which produces beautiful, professional results and can be used with other types of beads as well. You will be taught how to knot so that knots are even and secure and how to finish off using french wire and a clasp. You will work towards making a freshwater pearl necklace knotted on silk with sterling silver clasp. Cost: £18, includes all materials. Tools provided.
